Amurang

Located on the western coast of North Sulawesi, Amurang is a small harbour town formed by a ribbon of merging fishing villages – one of which is Pondang. Formerly the capital of the North Sulawesi province, the town lost its status when the capital was moved to Manado. The Office of the Regent is still based here, however, and you will find it in Pondang close to the Sendowan Baru guest house.

The harbour is in the centre of the town and from here passenger boats sail to and from the Philippines and the more northern

         

Indonesian Islands.
For shopping, the local market adjacent to the town square offers an abundance of everything to eat, drink, use and wear. You’ll also find the local supermarket, dozens of smaller shops and a number of eating establishments where you can enjoy a simple meal and a drink.
